Consultant Acute Medicine Physician

About the Role We are looking for physicians to provide acute medical services within Northland; these are a combination of new and replacement roles. Existing specialties include: General and Acute medicine Rheumatology Respiratory Gastroenterology including a visiting hepatologist Neurology Cardiology Infectious Disease Endocrinology and diabetes Healthcare of the elderly Maternal Medicine Oncology and Haematology Renal medicine The role will be focused on acute medicine which will include Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), hot clinics and short stay wards, Emergency Department and managing inpatients. The on-call roster means working some weekends per year with a rostered day off after weekend work. About the Location and Team Our department has a family feel with a positive culture, although a busy and challenging environment everyone looks after each other and has a real passion for what they do and why they do it. Teaching and mentoring our 28 medical registrars is an important part of our work. We want candidates who are team players committed to improving and developing services to meet the population need with a passion for the delivery of equitable healthcare. We are just a two hours' drive or 25‑minute flight from the international hub of Auckland. About you To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of NewZealand (MCNZ) in an Internal Medicine Vocational scope of practice.
