About the Role The Tauranga Acute Care Team (Crisis Team) provides accessible and responsive specialist secondary Mental Health and Addiction Services for the Bay of Plenty community that is culturally appropriate and inclusive. This role requires the application of core care delivery functions, as well as specialised knowledge and skills in the context of a multi‑professional team. The crisis team supports clients and their whānau suffering with acute mental health crisis/distress through acute assessment, brief follow‑up, connection with community services, and initiation/discussion of treatment to create a plan for a pathway forward once the crisis has passed. Responsibilities Provide acute assessment and care for clients in mental health crisis. Make decisions quickly with patient, staff, and community safety as a priority. Work shifts including weekends and public holidays. Collaborate with a diverse team of Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and other professionals. Support clients and whānau and connect them with community services. Qualifications and Experience Minimum of 5 years experience in the Mental Health sector. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Sound acute assessment skills and the capacity to make quick decisions. Flexibility in thinking and willingness to learn and grow.
