Job Description
Audio-Visual and Technical Specialist Clinical Skills and Training Department, Health New Zealand Waitematā. Permanent, full‑time role (Monday to Friday) based at Whenua Pupuke Clinical Skills Centre. About the Role As an AV Specialist Technician with Health New Zealand Waitematā, you will provide hands‑on technical support for AV systems across multiple district sites. Your work will directly enable high‑quality teaching, training, simulation, meetings, and hybrid events in clinical and education environments. You will install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of AV technologies including projectors, LED displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, control systems (e.g. Crestron), and video‑conferencing platforms. You will act as the first responder for AV issues, provide live event support, perform preventive maintenance, manage equipment inventory, support procurement, complete firmware and system updates, and maintain clear documentation. Responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain AV systems across the department’s sites. Troubleshoot and resolve AV issues promptly. Provide live event support for teaching sessions, meetings, and hybrid events. Perform preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and system updates. Manage equipment inventory and support procurement activities. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and support logs. Qualifications At least 3 years hands‑on experience in a complex, multi‑site environment such as healthcare, education, or corporate settings. NZQA Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in AV, IT, electronics, or related field, and a full NZ driver licence. Proven experience installing and supporting integrated AV systems, video‑conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, Cisco), streaming platforms, digital signage, and audio equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills across control systems, signal flow, Wi‑Fi connectivity, and AV/IT integration. Experience providing onsite support for live events and hybrid meetings. Ability to work independently, communicate with non‑technical users, and stay calm under pressure. Higher‑level qualifications, Crestron or AVIXA certifications, and video production/editing experience (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) are highly regarded.
