Job Description

Would you like to play a key role in shaping people strategy, projects and initiatives to support an exciting growth phase? Do you want to work with great people in a role that could be full time or part time (4 days)? With offices across New Zealand, you’ll be able to choose a hybrid option that works best for you in Auckland, Tauranga, Hamilton or Dunedin. If this sounds like you – we’d love to talk to you about a career with us. EMM Consulting is a privately owned Australian Environmental Consultancy. From the day we formed 16 years ago, we’ve been dedicated to work that is helping to create a sustainable future and nurturing a culture that’s anchored to our values; integrity, respect and humility. We’ve recently partnered with Mitchell Dash, a highly respected New Zealand based environmental and planning consultancy. This marks an exciting opportunity to expand our collective capability, with a team of 350 experienced environmental specialists across Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Our people are passionate about what they do and we’re dedicated to creating an environment where everyone has a voice and feels enabled to bring unique experiences to extraordinary work – work that has impact and that matters. So, what will your role look like here? Well, to start with, you’re joining us as we embark on an exciting growth phase, bringing our business together, learning from each other and continuing to develop. You will be key in continuing the people and culture practices our New Zealand team love and value, evolving the people function further and strategically supporting our leaders and our people to navigate change. You’ll also be a well‑welcome member of our close‑knit People team – connecting into our global People Strategy and working alongside some folks we know you’ll love collaborating with, being part of interesting projects with–and having fun as we do this! We’re looking for someone who thrives on working alongside leaders as a trusted advisor, bringing strong commercial acumen and broad HR expertise to shape decisions that support business outcomes, performance and foster a meaningful employee experience. Here’s what you’ll focus on to have impact in your role: Strategic partnering – This is a true partnership role. You won’t simply “do HR” for leaders – you’ll coach, guide and challenge them to lead their people well. Change management – help our people to navigate change and evolution, using insights, judgement and relationships to bring understanding and clarity. Lead and drive key projects or activities aimed at process and systems improvement. Performance, culture & wellbeing – Support leaders to foster high‑performing, respectful and connected teams and champion initiatives that strengthen culture, inclusion, wellbeing and engagement. Talent management – Working hand in hand with our Talent team, you’ll support NZ talent acquisition strategies and activities to support growth. Employer relations and risk management – identifying and supporting potential issues early, fairly, consistently and in line with legislation and company values. Projects, initiatives & continuous improvement – you’ll lead, design and deliver key projects relevant to our business strategy and as new HR, People or Cultural needs emerge. Here’s what you’ll bring to have impact: Strong experience in a similar HR Business Partner role, ideally, within a dynamic business dedicated to providing a meaningful employee experience. Experience supporting leaders through organisational change and growth. The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on operational HR delivery. Experience leading or contributing to HR initiatives, projects or continuous improvement activities. Sound judgement, resilience and the confidence to navigate complex people matters. A collaborative, curious and solutions‑focused mindset. Our goal is to build a team of EMMers that looks like the world around us – and we want EMMers to stay and grow. As part of our efforts to build an EMM for everyone, we embed diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company. We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds and people with disabilities. Please note we can only consider applicants with a legal right to work in New Zealand. Unsolicited resumes from recruitment consultants will not be accepted for this position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
