Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 20/07/2026, End Date: 11/12/2026 (Teacher on Study Leave) Area / composite (Years 1–15), Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts SDA Westbridge Residential School provides specialist education for students whose experiences of trauma, adversity, and disrupted engagement with education require a highly individualised and therapeutic approach. We are seeking an exceptional classroom teacher who is passionate about supporting students with complex behavioural, social, emotional, and learning needs. About the role We are looking for a teacher who: Demonstrates expertise in behaviour support and trauma-informed practice. Builds strong, positive relationships with young people Creates engaging and responsive learning programmes aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum. Utilises restorative and relational approaches to support student wellbeing and engagement. Works collaboratively within a team, including residential staff Maintains high expectations while recognising and responding to individual student needs. We are looking for someone who has: A current New Zealand Teaching Council practising certificate. Experience working with students presenting behavioural, emotional, and learning challenges. Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. Knowledge of PB4L, restorative practice, and trauma-informed approaches. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
