About the Role We’re seeking an experienced auditor to join our Assurance team at Senior Manager level in our Pōneke / Wellington office. From our offices in the bustling and vibrant capital city, you will be responsible for working on various external audit engagements with our clients. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality external audit engagements across a diverse public and private sector client portfolio, working with leading local and global organisations. This full-time role (Monday – Friday, minimum 37.5 hours per week) offers the opportunity to manage complex client engagements, build and develop client relationships and opportunities to mentor junior team members, all within a supportive, values-led environment. Responsibilities Take a senior role in statutory audit engagements from initial planning through to final review, taking ownership of delivery, quality, risk management, and continuous improvement in audit practices. Play a pivotal role in building public trust by leading high-quality audits of financial statements that enhance the financial integrity and transparency of our clients. Build trusted relationships with clients and senior stakeholders, understanding their business needs, ensuring compliance with policies and standards, and providing practical, value‑adding insights. Lead, coach and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence while supporting the professional growth of managers and more junior team members. Leverage advanced technology to deliver high-quality external audit work in line with PwC audit methodology and auditing standards, helping set new benchmarks for quality and innovation. Skills & Qualifications Extensive experience (ideally at least 7 years) in external audit within a professional services firm. Strong technical knowledge of auditing standards, financial reporting requirements, and audit methodology. Sound judgement, commercial awareness, and the confidence to manage complex engagements and key client relationships. Ideally financial services experience, either in banking or asset management, although this is not essential. Clear communication and the ability to confidently partner with clients and internal teams, translating complex matters into practical, well‑considered insights. An ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams, creating an inclusive environment that supports quality, collaboration, and professional growth. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.
