Position Health Care Assistant - Outpatients and Clinical Measurement Unit Location Wellington Central, Wellington, NZ Contract Permanent, Full-time (Rostered and Rotating) About the Role Outpatients is a dynamic, fast‑paced ambulatory care setting spanning Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Community Hospital. Our clinics are patient‑ and whānau‑focused, supporting patients from their First Specialist Appointment (FSA) through to follow‑ups, procedures, and long‑term care coordination. The Health Care Assistant (HCA) role in the Outpatients Department is to support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient‑centred outpatient services by assisting the nursing team with delegated clinical and service activities. Responsibilities Assist the nursing team with delegated clinical and service activities. Support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient‑centred outpatient services. Assist with ordering supplies and consumables and maintaining appropriate stock levels. Support the day‑to‑day running of clinic equipment, including cleaning, checking, and ensuring equipment is available and ready for use. Qualifications & Attributes Reliable and motivated Health Care Assistant who enjoys working in a fast‑paced outpatient environment. Comfortable working under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN), with a clear understanding of role scope and boundaries. Experience or willingness to learn in supporting outpatient services, including eye testing and HCA‑led clinics. Organised and detail‑focused, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing clinic demands. Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicates well with nursing, medical, allied health, administrative, and support services across the hospital.
