The opportunity An exciting opportunity for a financial analyst or aspiring accountant to gain insight into costing, volume drivers, and complex financial systems and processes. Permanent opportunity based in Wellington. Join a new team within finance focused on product volumes, revenue streams, and cost drivers in a high‑impact area of NZTA. Use your analytical skills to identify trends, investigate anomalies, and consider potential internal and external impacts. Working closely with finance and business leaders, you’ll play a key role in delivering robust reporting, financial modelling and performance analysis. You’ll help build a clear understanding of financial and non‑financial drivers, supporting better planning, forecasting and investment decisions. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes, reporting tools and analytical approaches within a complex, high‑scale environment. You will find out more about the role here: Position Description. What we're looking for Strong financial analysis and modelling capability, including variance and scenario analysis. Experience preparing management reporting, dashboards and performance insights. Advanced analytical and systems skills, including Excel and experience with ERP or BI tools. Sound understanding of financial controls, data integrity and reporting standards. Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly. A collaborative, team‑oriented approach with strong communication skills. Qualifications Relevant qualification in finance, accounting, economics or similar.
