About The Opportunity The primary purpose of this position is to carry out electrical work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard across projects, vessel works, maintenance jobs, and surveys — focusing on high-quality trade execution, accurate documentation, and smooth operational delivery. This is not a typical installation role; our client is looking for someone who enjoys fault-finding and diagnosing complex electrical issues that others can't. Reporting directly to the Superintendent, some of your responsibilities will include: Electrical installation, maintenance, fault-finding, commissioning, and repair across industrial maintenance, marine electrical systems, power generation, variable speed drives/motor control, PLC and automation support, and industrial upgrades Completing job cards, job stories, and supporting documentation accurately and on time, including work completed, materials used, and any variations or issues Following health and safety procedures at all times, including hazard identification, correct PPE use, toolbox meetings, and safety documentation Working closely with the Superintendent, other electricians, and apprentices, and communicating clearly on progress, issues, and changes Supporting the training and development of apprentices where applicable, and taking proper care of tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials As a specialised, niche business, our client understands that no one can step straight into this role without first building experience with their systems, clients and way of operating. This is a genuine opportunity to learn from an established team before progressing into a leadership role. About You The successful candidate will have: Strong industrial electrical experience with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills A current practising electrical licence (NZ Electrical Registration) A high standard of workmanship, attention to detail, and a safety-focused approach A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team Please note: this role suits candidates with industrial electrical experience - it is not suited to residential electricians or those whose background is primarily commercial construction. Experience with automation, PLCs, or marine electrical systems is highly desirable but not essential. What's in it for You?
