We’re looking for a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join the team at our Lyttelton based Bitumen Port Plant. About the role Based at our Lyttelton bitumen plant, this is a hands‑on engineering role with real scope to make an impact. You’ll work across plant improvement, maintenance support, capital project delivery and commissioning, partnering closely with operators, suppliers, contractors and managers. It’s a role for someone who enjoys solving practical problems, improving how things work and doing Good Work that keeps the plant running safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Provide mechanical and electrical engineering support across the Lyttelton bitumen manufacturing and storage plant. Scope and deliver plant capital projects, including planning, documentation, procurement support, contractor coordination and commissioning assistance. Support plant engineering activities such as P&IDs, piping design, pressure equipment work, inspections and engineering documentation. Review plant automation upgrades and work with suppliers and site teams to improve plant performance, efficiency, safety and reliability. Identify opportunities to improve plant operations and energy use, while maintaining accurate drawings, records and as‑built documentation. Qualifications A Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Three to five years’ experience in a similar engineering role within process, manufacturing, energy, petrochemical, dairy or water/wastewater environments. Knowledge of plant automation and electrical design, with experience using 3D AutoCAD, AutoPipe or similar tools. A strong safety mindset, sound judgement and the ability to stay calm, organised and proactive when priorities shift. Strong relationship‑building skills and a practical, low‑ego approach to working with operators, contractors, suppliers and leaders across the business.
