An exciting opportunity has become available for a Registered Nurse to join our Perioperative Services team in a fixed‑term parental leave cover position. This role offers the opportunity to work across our Theatre department, providing high‑quality nursing care within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will be committed to delivering safe, effective, and patient‑centred care while contributing to positive health outcomes for the people of Tairāwhiti. The position sits within the Perioperative Services department and reports to the Service Manager. Responsibilities Provide safe, professional nursing care to patients and whānau. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Promote culturally safe practice and support improved equity and Māori health outcomes. Participate in quality improvement and professional development activities. Support a positive team culture and contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment. About the Team / Service / Location Perioperative Services at Health NZ - Tairāwhiti provides surgical care to our community through a skilled and dedicated team of health professionals. We are committed to delivering excellent clinical care while embracing our organisational values of Whakarangatira, Awhi, Kotahitanga and Aroha. About You Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current APC. Current eligibility to work in New Zealand. Recent theatre experience. A commitment to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Well‑developed critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A flexible and positive approach to supporting service delivery.
