Job Description

Principal ITS Engineer – Auckland Provide leadership and direction for key infrastructure projects focused on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Act as a focal point for technical excellence in ITS design within the Transport Infrastructure sub‑sector and across wider business, developing design expertise nationally and building relationships with key ITS‑focused clients. Responsibilities Define and solve client problems through design thinking and teamwork. Understand and match client expectations in the quality of services delivered. Promote best practice and technical excellence by applying sound technical review practices, leading delivery of key or strategic projects across New Zealand. Lead ITS design, ensuring appropriate technical reviews, verifications and audits are completed according to WSP procedures. Produce designs, calculations, reports and drawings for a wide range of projects throughout the project life cycle, including scheme assessment, concept design, preliminary and detailed design, and design reports. Apply the latest and most effective skills and tools to projects, identifying areas for development and investment. Deliver on time, within budget and to the required quality. Assist with verification activities and technical reviews of projects. Understand the project brief and carry out engineering investigations, analysis, design and documentation accordingly. Work effectively with the wider team to develop a centre of excellence for transport design within WSP. Maintain an up‑to‑date working knowledge of relevant design techniques, technical standards and codes of practice. Qualifications Minimum 10 years of professional experience in transportation infrastructure ITS design delivery and/or experience as design lead. Chartered Professional membership of EngNZ or appropriate professional bodies. Proven ability and track record in managing multidisciplinary projects through the full spectrum of the project life cycle, meeting quality, time and budget requirements. Experience in a collaborative contracting environment (e.g., D&C, ECI, NOC, Alliance, etc.). Experience resourcing and managing a wide range of professional disciplines and subcontractors on complex projects. Extensive expertise in managing large‑scale project budgets with substantial work breakdown structures. Previous experience managing complex changes on large‑scale projects. Extensive experience in writing quality, credible complex reports and documents. Proven experience in winning market work and delivering projects. #J-18808-Ljbffr
