Job Description
Position Overview At Transpower, we own and operate the National Grid — the high‑voltage transmission network that carries electricity across New Zealand. Our work is nationally significant, technically complex and essential to powering homes, businesses, communities and the economy. About The Team Our Inventory and Logistics team manages Transpower’s inventory, warehouse facilities and supporting analytics. The team ensures the right equipment, critical materials and services are available for maintenance and grid project delivery. Opportunity – Internal Promotion Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Purchasing Coordinator to support Strategic Procurement, Grid Delivery and Engineering. You’ll create and manage purchase orders in Maximo and FMIS, coordinate with suppliers and freight forwarders, and support purchasing for maintenance and project delivery across the National Grid. Responsibilities Support purchasing that keeps the electricity flowing nationally Coordinate suppliers, orders and inventory information Create and manage purchase orders in Maximo and FMIS Coordinate with suppliers and freight forwarders Support purchasing for maintenance and project delivery across the National Grid Lead long‑lead items such as transformers, substation equipment, protection and communications materials, transmission line materials and cabling Keep purchase orders moving, provide timely updates on project materials, support item coding and master data maintenance Contribute to continuous improvement across the Inventory and Purchasing function Qualifications 3 or more years’ purchasing or relevant industry experience Strong attention to detail with the ability to stay organised and follow through Confidence using purchasing and finance systems, including reporting tools Strong data, analysis and Microsoft Excel skills. Maximo would be an advantage Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills Experience working with suppliers, logistics, freight forwarders or inventory functions Existing eligibility to work in New Zealand is required Benefits We offer a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits, along with many ways to support and recognise our people.
