Motion is investing in the Capability & Development of our people to enable the delivery of this growth strategy, meaning plenty of opportunity to work and develop your skills and knowledge.The **Sealing Application Engineer** serves as the national Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mechanical Seals and Gasket products across the Motion network. This role is responsible for elevating technical capability within the sales organisation while driving profitable growth of the sealing category. Through expert product selection, application support, training, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with supplier partners, the role ensures customers receive technically sound, compliant, and value-driven sealing solutions.**What kind of work may be involved?*** **National SME for sealing products** (gaskets, fluid control, mechanical seals), providing advanced technical expertise and application guidance.* **Review operating conditions** (pressure, temperature, media, shaft speed, compliance) to ensure correct product selection and engineered solutions.* **Support complex quotations and national projects**, including failure analysis and root cause investigations.* **Ensure alignment with supplier standards and industry best practices** in all technical recommendations.* **Provide cross-divisional technical sales support**, including joint customer visits with sales teams (SAMs, CAMs, RSMs, BDMs, Sales Engineers).* **Identify conversion, upgrade, and value-based solution opportunities** to drive revenue growth and margin improvement.* **Develop and deliver structured technical training programs** to build national sealing competency.* **Create and maintain technical documentation**, application guides, and mentor teams in solution-based selling.* **Collaborate with Product Management and suppliers** on portfolio alignment, new product introductions, quality issues, and market feedback.* **Support governance and continuous improvement**, including warranty reviews, process standardisation, compliance, and operational best practices.**Ideal skills & experience:*** Technical expertise in sealing products, pump systems, and rotating equipment, with experience in application engineering, technical sales, or MRO/industrial distribution environments.* Strong engineering capability, including interpretation of technical drawings and specifications; mechanical engineering qualification or trade background desirable (CAD experience advantageous).* In-depth knowledge of mechanical seals, sealing systems, gasket materials, and pump fundamentals, with experience engaging supplier partners.* Proven ability to deliver technical training, communicate effectively, and support both independent and team-based work environments.* Highly organised and adaptable professional, with strong problem-solving skills, time management, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to Health & Safety.* Proficient in business systems and tools* Team player attitude.**What is in it for you?*** Attractive package & tools of the trade.* The opportunity to join a progressive global company.* Ongoing training and career development; we genuinely care about supporting you to reach your full potential.* An inclusive culture that embraces the diversity of our people.* Free flu shots and counselling services with our Employee Assistance Program.We are a Company who values relationships, therefore we need this role to always work to foster and maintain trusted relationships across all levels of our business and seek to support and add value to our store network, managers, and leaders.We focus on continuous improvement and sustainable growth as our two main objectives.
