Job Description

About the role Join our Dynex team in Avondale as a Production Tooling Engineer. You will support our Extrusions and Materials Manufacturing operations by maintaining and repairing production tooling, ensuring readiness, minimizing downtime, and contributing to safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing outcomes. Responsibilities Inspect, clean, and prepare tooling in line with production schedules to maintain uninterrupted operations and minimize downtime. Perform tooling repairs and maintenance using manual machining equipment, including surface grinders. Monitor daily production and tooling maintenance requirements to ensure tooling availability and optimal performance. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized toolroom while accurately tracking all incoming and outgoing tooling components. Review production schedules and record maintenance activities, repair notes, and downtime data using DB View and MEX systems. Respond promptly to tooling and equipment breakdowns, carrying out effective repairs to minimize production disruptions. Work closely with production and maintenance teams to support operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives. Undertake other duties as directed by the Department Leader or Management Team. Qualifications Trade qualified in Machining, Fitting & Turning, Toolmaking, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of post‑apprenticeship experience. Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably MEX. Proven experience in milling and turning operations. Experience with CNC wire eroders is advantageous but not essential. Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team. Reliable, self‑motivated, and committed to continuous learning and professional development. Sound understanding of machining principles, tooling, materials, tolerances, and precision engineering practices. Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands. Good understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements, with a practical, safety‑first approach to all work activities. Benefits Flexible start and finish times, plus onsite parking.
