Advert Body Wellington based | Permanent | Full-time 4.8 weeks annual leave | Wellness allowance after 12 months Influence system‑level change in this pivotal leadership role Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do Lead high-impact kaupapa inquiries that shape Māori health outcomes across Aotearoa. Drive the Ministry’s response to Wai 2575, influence national policy, strengthen Māori–Crown relations, and lead a talented team delivering meaningful change for pae ora. Lead and develop the Kaupapa Inquiries team, providing strategic direction and ensuring delivery of complex, high-priority programmes of work. Drive the Ministry’s response to kaupapa inquiries, including Wai 2575, ensuring Te Tiriti obligations and Māori health equity are embedded throughout. Build and maintain influential relationships across the Ministry, Crown Law, and public sector agencies to support evidence-based outcomes for Māori. Provide strategic advice and thought leadership to advance Māori–Crown relations and support Māori health strategy, policy, and service delivery. Manage risk, performance, and delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes, continuous improvement, and alignment with Government and Ministry priorities. Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring Significant expertise in Waitangi Tribunal inquiries, Treaty partnerships, and Māori–Crown relations. Strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, kawa, and engagement with iwi and Māori communities. Proven people leader with experience navigating complexity, change, and high-profile work. Strategic thinker with excellent influencing, relationship management, and problem-solving skills. Passion for advancing Māori health equity and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.
