About the Role As a Senior Health Analyst, you will provide expert analytical advice and insights to support health service performance, planning, and decision-making across Health New Zealand. Working closely with Hospital & Specialist Services and other key stakeholders, you will lead complex analysis, reporting, and modelling activities that inform hospital operations, strategic health initiatives, as well as parliamentary questions, Official Information Act requests, and media enquiries. This is an opportunity to work with some of New Zealand's most significant health datasets, transforming complex information into meaningful insights that support policy development, service improvement, and operational performance. You will develop reporting solutions, performance monitoring frameworks, and data visualisations that enable leaders to make evidence‑based decisions while contributing to continuous improvement across the health system. About the Team and Location You will join a high‑performing Health Analytics team that provides trusted insights and analytical expertise across Health New Zealand. The team works closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry for Disabled People, primary health organisations, and health service leaders nationwide. Together, the team is committed to delivering high‑quality analysis, fostering innovation, and supporting better health outcomes for all communities across Aotearoa New Zealand. About you You will be an experienced analyst with a passion for turning complex data into actionable insights. You will have strong technical skills, a customer‑focused approach, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. You will thrive in a collaborative environment and be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to meaningful improvements in healthcare delivery. You will bring: A relevant tertiary qualification in statistics, data science, business analytics, business intelligence, or a related discipline. At least 7–10 years' experience in analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or data insights roles within a large and complex organisation. Advanced experience using analytical and visualisation tools such as Power BI, SQL, Qlik, and Excel. Strong capability in data analysis, data modelling, data integration, and performance reporting. Experience translating business requirements into effective reporting and analytical solutions. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to present complex insights clearly and confidently. Knowledge of the New Zealand health sector, government environment, or public sector reporting requirements.
