Academic Staff Member – Mechanical Engineering Location: Tauranga, New Zealand Team: Academic Delivery and Development Position Type: Fixed term, part time (16 hours per week) Remuneration: $80,466 – $87,211 (fixed remuneration excluding Kiwisaver) About the Role This role involves teaching in the NewZealand Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical strand) programme, supporting rangatahi to succeed through engaging, industry‑aligned learning. You’ll deliver classroom teaching, tutor ākonga, update learning resources, assess work, and support recruitment and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Delivery of New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Programme (Mechanical and common courses), including Engineering mathematics, Mechanical materials, Engineering CAD (SolidWorks), Thermodynamics, Manufacturing processes and Production. Provide leadership in student management. Develop, plan and implement student assessment, courses and resource material. Monitor student progress and results, providing timely and accurate advice and support as required. Plan and timetabling for the programme as well as assisting with recruitment. Actively promote and apply ToiOhomai Health & Safety policies. About You A National qualification in Mechanical Engineering (level6 and above). Minimum of 5years industry experience. In‑depth experience and knowledge of the NewZealand industry. Any regulatory memberships required. Good computer literacy skills. All applicants must have the legal right to work in NewZealand.
