Job Title Chef Overview Full-time on-site position with opportunities for career growth. The role is based in Palmerston North, N, NZ. Responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals. Work 30–45 hours per week, rostered Monday to Sunday including public holidays. Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen Assisting in menu development and implementation, including seasonal changes Creating and developing contemporary menus Innovation: bringing new ideas, creativity, techniques, and food trends into menu planning Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation Monitoring the quality of food taste and presentation of dishes Collaborating with managers, dietitians, kitchen staff, and waiting staff on food preparation issues Demonstrating diplomacy and problem-solving skills in kitchen operations Collaborating with the wider team to share ideas and improve customer experience and business growth Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising staff on correct cooking procedures Preparing and cooking food to required standards Ensuring compliance obligations are met in relation to Food Hygiene Maintaining Health & Safety and hygiene standards Selecting and training kitchen staff Freezing and preserving foods when required to maintain quality and storage standards Qualifications A successful candidate must have 2 years of food industry work experience or Level 4 or higher qualification (Subject area flexible) A genuine passion for food, and the wider industry Clear and friendly communication skills with your team members Passion to train and mentor team members coming through the kitchen A collaborative style, working harmoniously with the management team and floor staff Previous work experience working within food production environment is preferable Must be reliable and physically fit Zero tolerance of drugs at workplace Salary Salary can be negotiated as per your proven experience level; it will range from $30 per hour to $35 per hour. #J-18808-Ljbffr
