Environmental and Sustainability Site Specialist Full-time Meridian is Aotearoa’s largest renewable electricity producer, generating energy from the winds of Tāwhirimātea, the waters of Tangaroa, and the warmth of Tama-nui‑te‑rā. Meridian and Powershop together retail electricity to more than 400,000 homes, businesses and farms across New Zealand. About the role Meridian is constructing a new Wind Farm in Mt Munro. We are looking for an Environmental and Sustainability Site Specialist to provide Environmental and Sustainability leadership to resolve matters on behalf of the team. This is a full‑time, three‑year fixed‑term site‑based role for the duration of the Mt Munro Wind Farm project. What you’ll be doing You’ll ensure that resource consent conditions are implemented for the project, including through the CEMP, other approvals in design, contracts, operational practices and all elements of project delivery. You’ll also manage onsite environmental and sustainability compliance, reporting and responses for the construction site in accordance with Meridian policy and practice, undertake relevant onsite monitoring requirements and manage project technical specialists. Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience working on site in a construction type scenario or similar. Understanding and experience in relation to on‑site management of contractors and on‑the‑ground monitoring and supervision. Enthusiastic and pro‑active in doing the best for our environment and minimising the carbon footprint of the project. Good understanding of Te Ao Māori Framework / Tikanga / Mana Whenua. Good understanding of the Environmental and Sustainability construction sector within NZ and what mechanisms are best used to manage risks and drive value. Sense of adventure and confidence to drive around on 4WD tracks, enjoyment of the outdoors in all weathers. Live a commutable distance from the Mt Munro wind farm for wellbeing.
