Job Description
Our Tauranga tīma is looking for a Kaitohutohu | Advisor . This is a full time, fixed term opportunity until end of April 2027. The opportunity As part of this tīma, you’ll contribute to a range of high-impact workstreams across the Waikato‑Waiariki rohe. Much of our mahi focuses on working closely with Post‑Settlement Governance Entities (PSGEs), contributing to accords, and supporting Māori economic development and growth. Advisors in our tīma support whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and communities to develop and deliver initiatives that strengthen long‑term social and economic outcomes for Māori. Guided by your Team Leader and Senior Advisors, you’ll help advance Te Puni Kōkiri’s strategy and work with agencies and providers to monitor and enhance the services they deliver. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys meaningful, relationship-based work and wants to make a tangible difference in the community. The likely appointment range is $76,785 - $85,316 based on skills and experience. This will be pro-rated for the period of the fixed term. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate: Established stakeholder management skills An understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and recognise the importance of the Treaty/Tiriti from both Māori and Crown perspectives An understanding of the machinery of Government, public service and public sector processes that ensure the impartiality of Public Servants Experience working in a Kaupapa Māori environment Experience working in an iwi organisation, Māori organisation or in local Government would be advantageous in both of these roles.
