Our Protective Security Unit (PSU) is growing its capacity and capability. We have exciting opportunities for Protective Security Officers to join our team on a casual basis. About the role Our Protective Security Officers (PSOs) are the core element of this team, providing a 24/7, 365 day protective security service to the New Zealand Intelligence Community which protects our information, personnel and assets. We are currently looking for a casual pool of PSOs who would be called upon for unplanned leave coverage and vacancy periods to maintain consistent service delivery. Casual PSOs support the permanent PSOs to perform 24/7 protective security services across multiple NZIC sites, through a range of security‑related functions and systems. In this role you will assist permanent PSOs to: Respond to security incidents. Deter, detect and delay security threats. Provide reassurance to the workforce, responding and supporting during emergency situations, at all times delivering a professional service. What can we offer you? Generous hourly payrate: $35/hour. Who are we looking for? This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with integrity, resilience and sound judgement. No experience is required, but any experience in a frontline or customer service role is a bonus, as well as knowledge of various computer systems. Before you apply Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you’re eligible for employment. You must: Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years OR Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance Ordinarily, this means you’ll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
