Job Description
Planner / Senior Planner In this role, you will work across a diverse range of sectors including local government, transport, three waters, energy and community infrastructure. You will deliver high‑quality planning advice and project outcomes, working with a local team of planning experts as part of a nationwide team of 60. Your work will span projects for clients such as Watercare, Auckland Council, Wellington City Council, Cyril healthcare, Transpower, NZ Transport Agency, Ministry of Education and renewable energy providers. Based in one of our Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch offices, you may also work nationally. You will collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams including transport specialists, landscape architects, urban designers, environmental advisors and engineers. About You A degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning or a related discipline. NZPI membership (full membership or working towards this for Senior Planner). 4+ (Planner) to 7+ (Senior Planner) years’ experience in environmental and urban planning. Sound knowledge of the RMA with practical experience in statutory and strategic planning, including regional consenting. Collaborative style, experience working in a team environment and developing others. Commercial awareness and client‑focused approach. Excellent communication and written skills. Broad understanding of disciplines related to planning matters so you can engage effectively with clients, mana whenua, stakeholders and the public. Previous experience in consultancy desirable; experience working in the water, transport and energy markets, or with industrial and government clients, is an advantage.
