Legal Counsel

Legal Counsel Responsible for providing high‑quality legal advice across Council, with a strong commercial focus. The role supports major projects and strengthens contract management and risk practices. Key Responsibilities Draft, review and negotiate agreements, including leases, short‑form contracts and complex commercial arrangements. Provide legal support across property, infrastructure, privacy and broader local government matters. Translate legal complexity into clear, practical advice and enhance capability through shared learning, improved templates and fit‑for‑purpose legal practices. Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and provide high‑level legal advice. Qualifications At least five years of post‑qualification experience in commercial law, contracts and statutory frameworks. Experience in local government or other in‑house legal roles highly valued. Commercially savvy, solutions‑focused and confident in delivering high‑level legal advice. Ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively within a high‑performing organisation.
