We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Underground Trainer (UG Trainer) to join the team onsite near Greymouth on a 7 Days On | 7 Days Off roster . About the Role As the UG Trainer, you will play a key role in developing workforce capability and maintaining high safety and operational standards across underground operations. Key Responsibilities Deliver training and assessment for underground mining operations, including: Drilling & blasting Ground support Ensure all training aligns with New Zealand mining legislation and site standards Conduct competency assessments and maintain accurate training records Support onboarding and induction programs for employees and contractors Identify skill gaps and assist in developing tailored training plans Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across all underground teams Mentor and coach operators to improve performance and capability Collaborate with supervisors to ensure operational training needs are met Workplace Health & Safety Ensure Duty of Care obligations are met in all aspects of work Promote and contribute to a strong safety-first culture Comply with all site health, safety, and environmental procedures Report incidents promptly and actively support continuous improvement Adhere to site Health & Safety Management Systems, statutory requirements, and regulations Present fit for work, complying with a zero-tolerance Drug & Alcohol policy Protect the environment through adherence to site procedures About You Strong background in underground mining Experience in training, assessing, or supervising underground crews NZ Certificate in Assessment Practice (Level 4) - desirable but not essential Solid understanding of underground mining equipment and processes Knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills Ability to influence and engage a diverse workforce Current driver's licence What's on Offer 7 Days On | 7 Days Off roster for work-life balance Competitive salary package with health care benefits Stable long-term employment with a growing mining operation Modern underground fleet and equipment Ongoing training and career development opportunities Supportive, safety-focused workplace culture Camp accommodation and meals provided Employee wellbeing and assistance programs If you're a motivated underground professional ready to step into a key training role and make a real impact, apply now and be part of something exceptional.
