Parks & Community Facilities’ focus is on ensuring community assets (buildings and open space) are fit for the purpose of delivering outstanding community experiences and outcomes for Aucklanders. We’re seeking professional project managers with community facility experience, who want to make a positive impact on Auckland's future at a local level. Your focus will be on developing quality and relevant facilities for Aucklanders, contributing to the design phase and translating community plans into physical reality. You’ll be involved in a diverse and exciting portfolio covering Auckland's development initiatives encompassing urban, rural and coastal communities depending on your location. As Project Manager, you’ll champion and deliver specific projects (part of large work programmes) to leave the Auckland public with high-quality assets improving open space and facilities. These projects are focused on capital and renewal works in the built and open space. End to End delivery will be from; project initation, community consultation through design phases, consent and tender process management and overseeing the delivery of works to project closeout and completion. You’ll need to deploy your excellent communication skills throughout the process as you liaise with a wide range of stakeholders such as, community, local iwi, councillors and local boards to ensure a "best-fit" solution is delivered for the benefit of the community. Waitemata & Orakei – Based in Central Auckland Hibiscus and Bays – Upper Harbour – Based in Albany Devonport - Takapuna and Kaipātiki – Based in Albany Franklin – Based in Manukau You’ll have relevant experience in project and contract management, and be able to show excellent interpersonal and communication skills combined with a solid understanding of resource consenting processes. Ideally you’ll have experience in construction, landscape architecture, civil, structural or mechanical engineering, and a relevant tertiary qualification. To be successful in this role you’ll need to be able to listen and understand while also being able to think for yourself. You’ll have the ability to make decisions on the spot, proven communication expertise, strong collaboration skills and the ability to ‘manage’ the quality outcomes of the project’s asset types, people and stakeholders. Relationship building and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders will lead to success in this role. We’re looking for a pragmatic individual with political nous who guides outcomes through influence and effective communication. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday; you will have flexibility with how those hours are set.
