Clinical Nurse Specialist – Rheumatology (0.8 FTE, 64 hours fortnight) Permanent, Monday – Friday About the Role Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking a motivated and passionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Rheumatology service at Taranaki Base Hospital. This advanced practice nursing role involves providing specialist education, assessment, care and coordination to the Rheumatology cohort in Taranaki. The role requires working within a small specialist team to facilitate timely and effective patient care and maintaining professional nursing standards as a member of the Te Manawa Taki region. About the Team / Service / Location The Clinical Nurse Specialist works closely with the local Rheumatology consultant and nurse practitioner, as well as locum Rheumatology clinicians from around the country. The role also collaborates with the booking team to coordinate and deliver efficient, patient‑centred care. Duties include holding independent clinics, completing inpatient visits and providing staff education. The Medical Outpatient Department at Taranaki Base Hospital operates Monday to Friday and includes clinics across multiple specialties. About You Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical experience Postgraduate qualification (PG Diploma preferred) Current Expert or Senior Nurse PDRP Portfolio Strong work ethic and ability to work independently Commitment to ongoing learning and development Excellent communication skills and problem‑solving ability Desire to support people living with chronic conditions from a young age Experience in autoimmune disease is highly desirable, though not essential Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to providing excellent healthcare for all NewZealanders.
