Job Description

Shape how communities are heard and represented across Kaipara. This full‑time Dargaville‑based role offers flexible working and the chance to lead engagement that directly influences Council planning and decision‐making. About the Opportunity As part of our Strategy & Engagement team, you'll play a key role in strengthening connections across Kaipara. This is a hands‑on position where you'll design and deliver engagement initiatives that bring community voices to the forefront of Council decision‑making. Responsibilities Plan and deliver community engagement for Council projects, plans and initiatives Facilitate public meetings, workshops and feedback opportunities Provide engagement advice to project teams and decision‑makers Build relationships with iwi, community groups and key stakeholders Turn community feedback into practical insights that shape outcomes About you Naturally, you will be a resourceful and collaborative individual with excellent communication and listening skills and the ability to connect and foster strong and respectful relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders including iwi and our communities. Qualifications Experience designing and delivering engagement plans or consultation activities Ability to build trusted relationships across diverse groups, including iwi and community stakeholders Strong written skills, including summarising feedback and preparing clear advice Experience working across multiple projects and competing priorities Understanding of local government, community development, or public sector engagement practice A current valid NZ Drivers Licence, as regular travel is required within the region What We Offer At Kaipara District Council, we foster a supportive, inclusive, and forward‑thinking team environment.
