Community Support Worker - Residential - Whangarei Community Support Worker - Residential Casual position $23.97 - $29.68 per hour At Spectrum Care, we support adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities to live great lives. As a Community Support Worker, no two days are the same. You'll provide person‑centred support tailored to the unique goals, interests, and needs of each individual. This may include assisting with daily living tasks, community participation, social activities, education, employment, and building independence. In this role, you'll be supporting three young men in their early 20s who live together and enjoy a wide range of interests, including swimming, gardening, music, walks, drives, and kapa haka. Their home is vibrant, active, and full of opportunities for connection, learning, and fun. Skills & Experience Empathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disability Energy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lot Ability to remain calm, and calming, in all situations Resilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safety Good at explaining and negotiating Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you support Ability and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skills Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre‑requisite to be considered for this role The ideal candidate will have: An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification – we can support you to achieve this while you work Experience supporting people with disabilities, and/or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessary Reliability, commitment, and passion for working with people A full New Zealand driver's licence Able to pass a NZ police check The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered: Have worked in the care workforce for 3 years or more, and been paid at least the care workforce wage rate during that time, or A relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) – this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
