Job Description

Job Summary To carry out prototype and limited production builds of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assemblies and to carry out product builds on the production assembly lines to ensure that we meet engineering development and production delivery schedules while delivering on time and to the correct specification as required by customers. Key Responsibilities Assemble prototype PCBs for R&D development and limited quantity PCBs for production assembly requirements. Assemble products as per instructions detailed in relevant Text Procedures (T.P.’s). Produce all products to the relevant quality standards whilst meeting or improving upon allocated production/repair assembly times. Perform equipment‑related preventive and corrective maintenance – on‑site diagnosis, troubleshooting, repairs and replacement of modular components. Read and interpret complex schematics, parts/wiring diagrams, work orders, customer specifications, test instructions/procedures and engineers’ notes/memos to determine required tests and equipment. Set up and evaluate performance of sub‑assemblies and assemblies. Analyze and interpret test data to determine if results are within appropriate specifications. Use counters, signal generators, tracking generators, synthesizers, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, digital interface units, basic hand tools and special tooling for detailed diagnostics of equipment. Support the department leader by advising in a timely manner of any issues on the production lines that may be causing defective product and suggest possible solutions. Actively engage in continuous improvement activities, both within the team and the wider company initiatives, and continuously apply 5S methodology to all operating areas. Support the Quality Assurance team in the calibration of all calibrated items that are not sent to calibration service providers and maintain originals of calibration certificates in a file. General Duties Comply with Cubic’s Quality Management System. Comply with Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures. Ensure own health and safety and that of others by following all rules and procedures, reporting and managing all hazards in the work area and actively contributing to, and participating in, company health and safety initiatives. Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organisation. Comply with Human Resources procedures. Perform other duties as requested. Qualifications NCEA or similar qualification in electronics engineering, computer science, information systems or another relevant technical discipline. Skills / Experience / Knowledge Minimum of 3–4 years assembly experience to meet or improve allocated production assembly times. Ability to follow T.P.’s and engineering drawings. Ability to solder to IPC‑A‑610 RevD, class2. Ability to carry out wiring to IPCWHMAA620 RevA, class2. Relevant hand skills for light mechanical assembly work. Minimum computer skills sufficient to carry out product testing using ATE (Automated Test Equipment). Condition of Employment Successful outcome of a National Police Check. Occasional travel to NZ suppliers or overseas customer sites may be required.
