Job Description
Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 Per Annum (Depending on qualifications and experience) Smart Genie Limited is the central management company for a growing group of businesses operating across logistics, transport, retail, fuel, hospitality, cleaning, facility management and future acquisitions throughout New Zealand. We provide financial, operational, human resource and compliance support services to multiple group companies. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly motivated Group Accountant / Finance Manager to oversee the financial management and reporting functions of our business group. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly management accounts for multiple group companies Monitor business performance and profitability Prepare budgets, forecasts and cashflow projections Analyse financial results and provide recommendations to directors Assist with strategic business planning and growth initiatives Accounting & Compliance Manage GST, PAYE and other tax obligations Maintain accurate accounting records using Xero and associated systems Coordinate year‑end accounts and external accountant requirements Ensure compliance with New Zealand accounting and taxation regulations Assist with audit preparation and financial reviews Payroll & Administration Oversee payroll processing and reconciliation Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Reconcile bank accounts and financial transactions Review supplier payments and debtor management Maintain financial policies and procedures Business Analysis & Acquisitions Conduct financial analysis and performance reviews Assist with business acquisitions and due diligence projects Prepare financial models and investment assessments Support business valuation exercises Monitor key performance indicators across the group Reporting Prepare monthly director reports Develop management dashboards and reporting systems Present financial performance summaries and recommendations Support decision‑making through accurate financial information Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field Minimum 3 years relevant accounting or finance experience Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting and taxation requirements Experience using Xero, Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Experience Experience working with multiple business entities Experience in retail, logistics, hospitality or service industries Experience in budgeting, forecasting and management reporting Understanding of payroll, GST and compliance requirements What We Offer Competitive remuneration package Long‑term career progression opportunities Exposure to multiple industries and business sectors Involvement in acquisitions and growth projects Professional and supportive working environment How to Apply Applicants should submit their CV and cover letter outlining their relevant experience and suitability for the position.
