Job Description

Overview Registered Midwife, permanent, full‑time or part‑time role based at Rotorua Hospital. Provide compassionate, high‑quality maternity care as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, making a meaningful difference for wāhine and whānau during a life‑changing time. Responsibilities The role is hospital‑based and provides midwifery services across the scope of practice. This is a role for a midwife with high professional standards, who wants to provide a service proud of and making a difference to a diverse community. Midwives can work across their scope of practice by providing care to ante and postnatal inpatients and outpatients and work alongside their midwife LMC colleagues to provide secondary intrapartum care. About the Service/Location Health NewZealand|Te Whatu Ora Lakes provides healthcare from its two modern and progressive general hospitals in Rotorua and Taupō, NewZealand. Rotorua Hospital is a medium‑sized secondary maternity service and Taupō Maternity is a primary unit. Our maternity services provide care for birthing women in the Lakes region, with around1350 births taking place in our facilities per annum. Women requiring tertiary level care are transferred out. We pride ourselves on being quality and improvement focused with whānau always at the forefront of our care. The Lakes district is becoming the lifestyle destination of choice and is well known for its many outdoor recreational activities, family friendly beaches, and a growing multicultural community. Qualifications Registered Midwife and currently hold or will be eligible for full registration with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand. NewZealand Registered Midwife. A current practising certificate with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand. Evidence of effective, competent midwifery practice. The ability to work effectively within a busy environment with competing demands and enjoy being part of an incredible team who provide exceptional care for all whānau.
