About this role Leadership Advisor – Tangata o le Moana, a fixed‑term, full‑time position (1–2 years) commencing 28 January 2027, based in Tāmaki and Te Tai Tokerau. This role expands the Leadership Advisory service to provide specialized support to Pacific principals across the broader geographic region. The advisor will offer coaching, advice, and leadership development to schools and kura, fostering innovation in curriculum design and teaching and learning. Key responsibilities include: Provide dedicated, responsive support to Pacific principals and the wider sector. Advise on strategic, instructional, and school‑management matters to improve leadership capability. Develop and share best practice across the system, including within school clusters. Build relationships with Te Mahau | Education Services, NZPPA, other Tangata o le Moana advisors, and national leadership advisory teams. Report to the Director of Education and be supported nationally by the Chief Advisor – Leadership Advisory Service and Chief Advisor – Pacific. About you You are a highly experienced (current or recently retired within the last 12–24 months) school principal with deep knowledge of the principal’s role and responsibilities. Have proven success in school management, strategic and instructional leadership. Have mana and status in the sector, with integrity and the ability to coach leaders across primary, intermediate, and secondary schools. Have experience supporting Pacific principals and Pacific education. Inherit and uphold the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
