Ambulance & Events Volunteer

Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders since 1885. Today, our 11,000-strong team of kaimahi work across Aotearoa to enhance the health and wellbeing of our communities. From responding to 111 calls to supporting people to stay healthy through our mahi in health education, access, and monitoring, we are making life‑changing differences every day. Volunteer role We are currently recruiting volunteers for Alexandra. Volunteering with Ambulance & Events is a big commitment that provides huge rewards. Your role is varied but the focus is always on providing quality care to patients, supporting them through a journey that may start at a 111 call and end with referral, on‑scene treatment or transport to a medical facility. As an Events Volunteer you may cover local or international sports events, school fairs or concerts. We offer NZQA‑recognised training and provide all support and education needed. Once accepted, your online and classroom training and workbooks will take around 6–9 months to complete. Qualifications A full and clean NZ driver’s licence for at least 12 months or completion of an approved NZTA advanced driving course (if licence held for less than 12 months) To be 18 years of age or older New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency status A First Aid certificate level 2 is preferred; if you don’t currently have one, training will be provided A clean police record Ability to pass Hato Hone St John assessments – physical assessment, health questionnaire, literacy and numeracy assessments and interview Availability for regular duty and training (approximately two 12‑hour shifts and one training session per month) EEO Statement At Hato Hone St John, we embrace diversity, welcoming everyone to bring their authentic selves to work.
