Job Description Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for the cleaning duties within the kitchen or food preparation area, including cleaning of cooking and general utensils used in a restaurant and/or kitchen. Maintain a high level of workplace hygiene and safety in the kitchen and related areas. Assist with the assembly and preparation of ingredients for cooking as required. Clean, sanitize and store all cutlery, crockery, kitchen equipment and appliances, using either industrial washing machines or hand washing as appropriate. Clean walls, floors and general kitchen work spaces, working to cleaning schedule as prescribed for the area. Clean food storage areas including fridges, cool rooms and dry goods stores, ensuring that principles of food hygiene are being observed; report any hazards or problems to Executive Chef. Remove rubbish regularly, ensuring kitchen and waste areas are free of refuse. Clean industrial bins on a daily basis. General maintenance and cleaning of the loading dock. Explain and enforce hygiene regulations. Qualifications Full NZ working rights. A commitment to professional presentation and behaviour at all times. Excellent verbal communication skills. Physical fitness to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) and ability to lift kitchen equipment over 10kg. A desire to grow and progress within Sofitel. Organised, efficient time‑management and work planning. Excellent communication skills – verbal and written. Willingness to work weekends and public holidays.
