Job Description
About the Role Are you a curious, analytical person who enjoys working through information, assessing evidence, solving problems, and learning how legislation is interpreted and applied in practice? This role is an opportunity to build practical legal, regulatory and compliance expertise in a supportive team, while contributing to the integrity of New Zealand’s business environment. Responsibilities Assess referrals and information relating to potential director prohibitions under section 385 of the Companies Act 1993. Review information from insolvency practitioners, the Official Assignee and other sources to identify key issues and practical next steps. Prepare clear written material, including assessments, memoranda, notices and correspondence that support decision‑making. Work with internal and external stakeholders to clarify issues, gather information and support timely outcomes. Support Operational Legal Services and Business Registries work as required. Qualifications A tertiary qualification and strong analytical, communication and problem‑solving skills with relevant work experience. Curiosity, good judgement and the ability to work through information and evidence carefully. The willingness and ability to interpret and apply legislation in practical regulatory settings. Confidence working with systems, records and information, or the ability to learn new systems quickly. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain information clearly and accurately. The ability to manage priorities, follow work through to completion and ask for support when needed. Experience in a regulatory, compliance, legal support, government, operational, analytical or commercial environment is useful. Experience with insolvency‑related information, statutory registers, investigations, compliance processes or similar systems is helpful but not essential. A legal background or previous experience interpreting and applying legislation is helpful but not required. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $85,537 – $101,911 per annum + KiwiSaver + Wellness Benefits. Location & Employment Auckland based permanent position.
