About Us Shane Stone Builders is a trusted, locally owned construction company delivering high‑quality projects across the Whanganui region since 2008. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our growing team. This role will initially involve managing a diverse range of projects including Insurance works, Ministry of Education projects, and Enable works, with the opportunity to later take on new residential builds, commercial projects, and alterations/additions. Key Responsibilities – Pricing & Tendering Prepare pricing, estimates, and tenders for a variety of residential, commercial, insurance, and maintenance projects Review plans, specifications, and project documentation to ensure accurate costing Assess labour, subcontractor, and material requirements for projects Assist in evaluating project profitability and budgets Key Responsibilities – Project Management & Delivery Manage multiple projects simultaneously from commencement through to completion Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards Review construction plans and build documentation to ensure compliance and project readiness Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues affecting timelines or budgets Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with plans, specifications, and client expectations Subcontractor & Resource Coordination Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure efficient workflow Schedule labour and subcontractors to maintain project timelines Manage project resourcing, ensuring sufficient labour and materials are available on‑site Adapt resource planning to accommodate project changes and unforeseen circumstances Client & Stakeholder Management Maintain professional communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers Deliver superior outcomes for clients, consistently exceeding expectations Liaise with insurance companies, Ministry of Education, Enable, and other stakeholders as required Attend site and client meetings when necessary Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure projects comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, environmental requirements, and company health & safety procedures Promote safe work practices and maintain strong health and safety standards on all sites Ensure environmental and quality standards comply with legislation and sustainable practices Monitor subcontractor compliance with site safety requirements Quality Assurance Ensure workmanship meets company quality expectations and project specifications Conduct regular site reviews to monitor quality and project progress Identify and resolve defects or issues in a timely manner Administration & Reporting Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting Attend and contribute to weekly management meetings Use project management systems and software to track progress, budgets, and workflows Assist with project scheduling, forecasting, and reporting requirements About You – Experience & Qualifications Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a Project Management role within the construction industry is essential Qualified Builder background preferred, but not essential Experience in Quantity Surveying, estimating, or project pricing advantageous Experience managing residential, commercial, insurance, or maintenance projects preferred NZ Full Driver Licence required About You – Skills & Knowledge Strong communication and relationship management skills Excellent planning, time management, and organisational ability Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities Competent in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Project Experience with SimPRO software beneficial but not essential Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail Personal Attributes Positive attitude with a strong work ethic Motivated, proactive, and solutions‑focused Client‑focused with a willingness to go above and beyond Ability to work well within a team environment High standard of professionalism and pride in delivering quality outcomes What We Offer Competitive salary package + company vehicle, phone & laptop/tablet Full‑time permanent position Monday–Thursday 7:30am–5:00pm | Friday 7:30am–4:00pm Weekly pay Ongoing training and development opportunities Fun, supportive team culture Life insurance and trauma cover for permanent employees Optional staff banking discounts Company social club Diverse and interesting range of projects – no two days are the same.
