Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 20/07/2026, End Date: 16/12/2026 (Fixed-term funding) Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher English Are you a passionate literacy specialist who loves working collaboratively to shift outcomes for learners? Our vibrant kura is seeking an exceptional educator dedicated to accelerating literacy success for our Year 1–6 students. This is a fixed-term position for Terms 3 and 4 2026, starting July 20 (or by negotiation). Based in our wonderful, collaborative junior school space, you will play a dual role: providing targeted, evidence-based intervention for students needing additional literacy support working alongside our classroom kaiako to help build capacity and implement robust in‑class strategies. As a kura that deeply values te ao Māori and tikanga Māori, we welcome a team player who builds strong, mana‑enhancing relationships with tamariki, staff and whānau. Key responsibilities: Delivering high‑quality structured literacy intervention to individuals or small groups across Years 1–6 Collaborating with classroom teachers to scaffold and embed structured literacy practices that meet the diverse needs of learners within their daily programs Working fluidly both inside the collaborative hub and delivering targeted pull‑out support where required. What we are looking for: Specialist expertise: Proven experience in Structured Literacy support, or current RTLit (Resource Teacher: Literacy) / Reading Recovery training with a strong understanding of how to transition skills to an explicit, systematic scope and sequence A true team player: Energy, flexibility and a desire to work in a highly collaborative, supportive and energetic junior school environment Culturally responsive: An openness to learning or a readiness to bring your existing knowledge of te ao Māori and tikanga into our space.
