Part time, Fixed term, FTTE up to: 0.6, Start Date: 27/07/2026, End Date: 27/01/2027 (Special project) Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts We are seeking a skilled, relational and highly responsive specialist teacher to lead and support our Navigator Integrated Learning Programme. Navigator is a new, strengths‑based learning space designed to positively re‑engage ākonga who need a more structured, nurturing and predictable environment in order to experience success. The programme supports students to reconnect with learning, develop confidence and self‑belief, strengthen learning habits, build emotional regulation and wellbeing strategies, and transition successfully back into mainstream classes. The successful applicant will be an experienced and reflective teacher who is passionate about working with at‑risk learners and able to build strong, respectful relationships with students, whānau, staff and external agencies. They will be calm, consistent and highly organised, with the ability to create learning experiences that are safe, purposeful, culturally responsive and focused on both academic and personal growth. Responsibilities Working with a small group of ākonga in a transitional learning programme Developing individual learner profiles and supporting IEP goals Building strong partnerships with whānau from the beginning Supporting literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and social‑emotional learning Collaborating with deans, pastoral staff, learning support, RTLB, MoE and community agencies Helping students develop the skills, confidence and readiness to successfully re‑engage in mainstream learning Qualifications Has proven ability to build positive, restorative relationships with young people Understands trauma‑informed, culturally responsive and inclusive practice Can maintain clear routines, boundaries and expectations Is confident working alongside whānau and external support services Is flexible, creative and solutions‑focused Believes every student belongs and every student can succeed Knowledge of learning support, pastoral systems, behaviour support, restorative practice, neurodiversity, mental health and/or alternative education would be an advantage.
