Automation Test Analyst

Project: Data platform testing and automation, including DBT, Snowflake, and Power BI Location: Auckland CBD Tech Stack: DBT, SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, Kafka (highly desired) About the Role Are you a Data Automation Tester who enjoys getting hands‑on with modern data platforms? This role sits within a data team working across DBT models, Snowflake, and Power BI reporting, with a strong emphasis on test automation and data quality. You’ll bring your testing expertise to a fast‑moving data environment, helping validate pipelines and reporting outputs so the business can trust the numbers behind every decision. While automation is the main focus, you’ll also be comfortable rolling up your sleeves for manual testing when the situation calls for it. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain automated tests for data pipelines and transformations built in DBT. Validate data accuracy and integrity across Snowflake and downstream Power BI reports. Develop and execute test scripts covering data quality, transformation logic, and reporting outputs. Carry out manual testing as needed, particularly for edge cases or areas not yet covered by automation. Identify, log, and track data defects, working closely with data engineers to resolve issues. Collaborate with the wider data team to strengthen test coverage as new models and dashboards are built. What We're Looking For Proven experience testing data pipelines and platforms, ideally in an automation-focused role. Strong SQL skills, with hands‑on experience in DBT and Snowflake. Experience validating Power BI reports and dashboards. Comfortable switching between automated and manual testing approaches as required. Banking or financial services experience (advantageous, not essential). Experience with Kafka (highly desired but not essential).
