Apply your high level of payroll knowledge in a complex environment Work with a supportive and high-performing team Based in Wellington CBD with hybrid working available (2 days work from home) About the role As a Senior Payroll Compliance Specialist with us, your focus will be on ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time. With your deep expertise in end-to-end payroll and navigating complex payroll environments, you'll bring clarity and precision to a fast-moving landscape. Your solid grasp of employment legislation and collective agreements means our people are paid correctly, compliantly and confidently every single time. Responsibilities Tackling complex queries and driving resolutions that satisfy everyone involved Conducting regular payroll audits and checks Reviewing and processing payroll exceptions on time, every time Identifying and implementing any process improvement opportunities Driving payroll precision by equipping leaders with the right training, both in person and online Working within an outsourced model of the transactional work About You As an experienced payroll specialist, you’ll have proven experience working in complex end‑to‑end payrolls, along with strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, especially the Holidays Act. You’re comfortable calculating overtime, prorations, leave rates, leave entitlements and final pays manually, ensuring details are validated and every payment is spot‑on. You’ll take real pride and ownership of your work, solving minor problems before they escalate into larger issues. As a senior in the team, you’ll provide guidance and mentoring to other team members, and your customer ethos will be second to none. You’ll combine this with the ability to build empathetic, value‑add and trusted relationships in all interactions. Qualifications Experience working with complex payroll environments, employment agreements and collective agreements Strong analytical capability, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll issues and discrepancies Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills, with a genuine passion for customer service Advanced knowledge of payroll legislation, including Holidays Act, tax and employment‑related requirements A continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on compliance, controls and process optimisation Benefits Access to special rates on fantastic holiday home accommodation around New Zealand Access to discounted health insurance plans for you and your family Retail shopping discounts with our partners An Employee Assistance programme to support you when you need it Plus more!!
