Job Description

Location: Wellington. Employment type: Full‑time, 12‑month fixed term. Midpoint salary: $82,061 dependent on experience. Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do This is a great opportunity to work at the centre of the Ministry, supporting Director‑General of Health and Ministerial priorities through high‑quality coordination, analysis and advisory support. You’ll work alongside Senior and Principal Advisors to connect information, support executive processes, and help ensure priorities are clearly understood, progressed and delivered. You’ll bring clarity to complex information, support effective decision‑making, and help maintain strong coordination across teams. Support coordination and tracking of Director‑General priorities, ensuring clarity on actions, ownership and progress Support coordination of the Weekly Report for the Minister of Health Support DG Advisory inbox triage and management Contribute to the preparation of briefings, summaries and advice for senior leaders Identify emerging risks and issues, and elevate appropriately with clear context Support decision‑making by assisting with analysis, framing issues, and testing the quality of advice Coordinate across teams to ensure visibility, alignment and follow‑through on actions and commitments Build strong working relationships across the Ministry and support effective stakeholder engagement Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tools and ways of working Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring Experience in policy, monitoring, corporate or advisory roles (or a related environment) Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand information and contribute to clear, practical advice Discretion, sound judgement and the ability to work through ambiguity with guidance Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships An understanding (or interest in developing knowledge) of government processes Ngā hua o tō mātou whare - What we bring Discover a world of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
