Kaiako Rumaki Reo Māori - CRT Release teacher Part time, Contract, FTTE up to: 0.1, Start Date: 31/07/2026, End Date: 04/12/2026 Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher Te reo Māori MITA Shannon School | Te Kura o Hānana is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Kaiako Rumaki Reo Māori to provide CRT release teaching once a fortnight within our developing rumaki setting. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, growing rumaki programme where strong relationships, high expectations, and a passion for te reo Māori are valued. About the role The successful applicant will: Teach in our Rumaki Reo Māori classroom one day each fortnight to provide release for the classroom kaiako. Deliver engaging learning experiences through te reo Māori. Build positive and affirming relationships with tamariki and whānau. Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the continued development of our rumaki pathway. Uphold and model tikanga Māori in everyday practice. We are looking for someone who: Holds current New Zealand teacher registration and a practising certificate. Demonstrates competence and confidence in te reo Māori and tikanga Māori. Has experience teaching in a rumaki or Māori-medium setting, or a strong commitment to developing expertise in this area. Is flexible, reliable, and able to quickly establish positive learning environments. Values culturally responsive practice and places tamariki at the heart of their work.
