Job Description
Hynds is looking for a hands‑on QA Technician to join our Pokeno manufacturing site. You'll play a key role in ensuring the precast concrete and concrete pipe products we produce meet the highest quality standards — protecting our S‑Mark certification, our reputation, and the infrastructure our communities rely on. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in civil engineering or manufacturing lab testing who enjoys detail-focused, practical work and being part of a strong production team. What You'll Be Doing Carrying out routine product testing, load testing, and water‑tightness (hydrostatic) testing on concrete pipes, in line with national and international standards Performing pre‑pour and post‑pour QA checks on precast concrete — mould dimensions, reinforcement, product finish and marking Conducting dimensional checks on pipes and reinforcement cages, and repairing concrete products as needed Raising and closing out Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for products that don't meet standard Supporting concrete trials, sample preparation, and characterisation of sand, aggregates and additives Keeping the lab and testing equipment clean, calibrated, and audit‑ready Compiling and reporting QA data daily, weekly and monthly, and flagging any out‑of‑tolerance results Providing relief cover across Batcher, Gatekeeper, Precast, Pipe Technician and Lab roles as required Contributing to a safe, clean and efficient site through strong health, safety and environmental practices What We're Looking For At least 1 year's experience in civil engineering and/or manufacturing lab testing of concrete samples and products A tertiary qualification in QA, Civil Engineering, or a related field Solid understanding of laboratory procedures and testing practices Computer literacy, including confidence with MS Excel Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in test results Strong communication skills and a genuine team‑player attitude A safety‑first mindset and the ability to safely lift up to 20kg A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and a drive for continuous improvement Why Join Hynds?
