Working with Microsoft technologies including SQL Server, Azure data services and .NET, you will play an important role in delivering secure, reliable and scalable data solutions that support the organisation’s work and decision-making. This role covers the full data solution lifecycle, including database design, data modelling, integration pipelines, performance tuning, data quality management and technical documentation. You will also contribute to modern engineering practices, including Git-based source control, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, release management and cloud-native data services. You will work independently while also collaborating closely with colleagues across ICT and the wider organisation to translate business needs into practical technical solutions. We are looking for someone with strong technical capability, a collaborative approach, and a genuine interest in continuous improvement. You will be comfortable working in agile or iterative delivery environments, taking ownership of your work, and applying structured engineering practices to deliver quality outcomes. You will bring strong problem-solving and analytical skills, along with the ability to clearly explain technical ideas to a range of stakeholders. You will be proactive, curious, and comfortable seeking feedback, sharing ideas, and working as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have skills, experience and/or knowledge in several of the following areas: Strong experience in SQL Server development and database design Experience with Azure SQL and cloud data services Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data integrations Proficiency with Git/GitHub, including branching, pull requests and version control Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Experience with .NET and API-based integration Understanding of data modelling and data warehousing concepts Knowledge of cloud security and access management practices A relevant tertiary qualification and/or comparable relevant experience Understanding of te ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi, or a willingness and commitment to learn You do not need to tick every box. The salary range for this position is $75,646 – $102,086, exclusive of 3.5% KiwiSaver employer contribution.
