Job Description
Engineering Technician We’re on the lookout for a motivated Engineering Technician to join our New Plymouth Infrastructure Partnership (NPIP) team in New Plymouth. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll support geotechnical investigations, construction QA testing, and contribute to delivering high‑quality infrastructure projects. The Opportunity You’ll play a key part in ensuring materials, processes and site activities meet required standards, while working closely with construction teams, consultants and clients. Key Responsibilities Field & Laboratory Testing Carry out geotechnical investigations including soil and rock sampling Perform field and laboratory testing in line with industry standards Produce accurate and reliable reports and documentation Quality Assurance Support and enhance laboratory quality systems (ISO 9001) Ensure equipment is maintained and operating effectively Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives Project & Site Coordination Assist in planning and coordinating site activities, labour and resources Interpret drawings, specifications and construction plans Support cost estimation, variation tracking and reporting Undertake asset inspections and complete updates of RAMM Administration & Reporting Complete all job‑related documentation accurately and on time Assist with reporting, invoicing and record‑keeping Stakeholder & Relationship Management Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors and clients Communicate professionally and contribute to a positive team environment Health, Safety & Environment Champion a strong safety culture and Zero Harm principles Identify and manage risks, ensuring compliance with H&S policies Maintain safe working practices and use PPE at all times Important Skills A Level 7 qualification or higher in Engineering (or equivalent recognised by Engineering New Zealand) Experience in consulting, contracting or laboratory environments Knowledge of quality assurance systems and procedures Hands‑on experience using tools and equipment on site Strong organisational and communication skills A proactive attitude with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement Benefits Rewarding remuneration including company vehicle and tools of trade Free access to Medmar health care benefits and discounted holiday homes All the tools of trade you need to do your job Progression and development programs on offer, including our inspiring leaders programme for top performers #J-18808-Ljbffr
