We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Maritime Officer preferably based in Tauranga. Te āhuatunga a te tūranga | About the role Currently reporting to the Bay of Plenty Harbour Harbourmaster, in this role as a commercial and recreational maritime officer, you will be responsible for: Implementing the requirements of and compliance with Bay of Plenty Navigation and Safety bylaws and various relevant acts. Ensuring that all water-based activities comply with relevant maritime and health and safety legislation. Assisting with Bay of Plenty navigation and safety maintenance, contract works, contractors and projects. Working closely with the Senior Maritime Officers in Rotorua and Whakatāne, on a regular basis, travelling to support them as they carry out their responsibilities Responding to oil spills or other threats to the marine environment. Working professionally and collaboratively as part of the wider Bay of Plenty Maritime team. Ō pūmanawa | Your skills and experience To be successful, you will have: An Inshore Launch Master’s (ILM) Skipper Restricted Limits (SRL) licence or similar to permit operation of council vessels. A minimum of 4 years’ experience post qualification experience Proven leadership skills. High computer literacy. Strong communication skills that enable you to communicate with a range of people, verbally and in writing. Flexibility with hours of work and be available to work weekends.
