Job Description

Allied Health Assistant Coordinator – Short-term loan equipment service Whanganui Hospital, Whanganui – Permanent Full Time (1.0 FTE). Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm. Key Responsibilities Coordinate the daily operation of the Short‑term Loan Equipment service. Manage equipment requests, allocations, deliveries, returns, and stock levels. Prepare, clean, inspect, maintain, and organise loan equipment. Maintain accurate equipment records across multiple computer systems and databases. Monitor equipment availability and coordinate repairs, servicing, and replacement as required. Support Allied Health clinicians with equipment‑related tasks and service delivery. Liaise with patients, whānau, clinicians, and external providers to ensure timely access to equipment. Assist with inventory management, stock control, and ordering processes. Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and efficiency initiatives. Ensure safe equipment handling and compliance with service standards. Key Qualifications Strong leadership skills with experience in coordinating small teams or services. Excellent organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities. Experience in equipment services, Allied Health support, stock control, logistics, warehouse management, or a related field. Knowledge of personal functional equipment, including bathing, toileting, mobility, and positioning equipment. Knowledge and experience of manual handling principles, patient care, rehabilitation, disability support, or aged care. Strong computer skills and confidence working across a range of information systems and databases. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records. Excellent communication and customer service skills. A practical, problem‑solving approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to delivering high‑quality, person‑centred service. Ability to read and write in English. Clean current full NZ driver’s licence. Hold the legal right to work in New Zealand (this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship). Physically fit and able to lift as per patient handling guidelines. Experience of working with a culturally diverse workforce and sensitivity to Māori and Pacific health tikanga. Benefits Permanent full‑time position with regular weekday hours.
