Senior Pharmacist – Permanent, Full Time (80 hours per fortnight) Taupo Hospital Opportunity A fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic hospital pharmacy team in the heart of New Zealand's adventure capital. About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team in Taupō, providing expert support to our rural clinical pharmacy service with a focus on Oncology and Haematology services. The role requires a pharmacist who is adaptable and clinically confident, able to deliver high‑quality pharmaceutical care across speciality (oncology and haematology) and general inpatient settings while supporting equitable access to services for a rural and regional population. This pivotal role requires exemplary clinical knowledge to ensure safe and effective medication management for complex patients. You will be instrumental in collaborative practice, working alongside doctors, nurses and pharmacists across two hospital sites to drive quality improvement and patient safety on the unit. Beyond your specialty area, your expertise will support general clinical and operational pharmacy duties on a rostered basis (including ward and dispensary coverage). Responsibilities Provide expert support to the rural clinical pharmacy service in oncology and haematology. Deliver high‑quality pharmaceutical care across speciality and generalist inpatient settings while supporting equitable access to services for a rural and regional population. Ensure safe and effective medication management for complex patients. Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and pharmacists across two hospital sites to drive quality improvement and patient safety on the unit. Support general clinical and operational pharmacy duties on a rostered basis, including ward and dispensary coverage. Team / Service / Location Our team is split across two sites (Rotorua and Taupo) and consists of 19 staff members: 13 pharmacists, 1 pharmacy intern and 5 technicians. The service operates out of two modern general hospitals in Rotorua and Taupo. About You Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand, current APC and 3–5 years clinical experience. Flexible team player with a diligent approach to your work. Problem‑solver with a positive can‑do attitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, reliable time‑management and a consistent, accurate work ethic. Very high standard of ethical and professional practice. Customer‑service focused.
