Job Description

The Role | Te mahi We are seeking talented Food and Beverage Attendant to join our team in the new waterfront restaurant Hiku. We are looking for individuals passionate about hospitality and who have experience in restaurants or customer facing roles. Full training will be provided. This is a part-time role based at Sudima Kaikōura, with a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week and a pay rate of $24–$26 per hour. For the right candidate, the option of a permanent full-time contract is open for discussion. Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa Provide a warm engaging welcome to all guests Work as a team to ensure exceptional service and dining experiences Preparation of the restaurant for service by setting and arranging tables Seating guests, presenting them with menues and beverage lists, taking orders and delivering exceptional service at all times Opening bottles, pouring beverages and serving food Clearing tables and returning dishes and cutlery to kitchen Removing empty bottles and used glasses from tables, and refilling and replacing glasses Taking external and internal phone inquiries and delivery of room service Settling guest accounts and operating point of sales machines and cash registers Ensuring a positive resolution and follow up with any guest complaint About you | Ko koe tēnei Exceptional grooming and hygiene standards Ability to remain calm under pressure, willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests make the most of their day Outstanding communication and customer service skills, with good attention to detail Have a desire to learn and grow your hospitality career Experience in restaurant & bar service or customer facing role would be advantageous Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required (which may include early morning starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays) Valid Right to Work in New Zealand NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 4) or At least two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
